It Looked Like Love

We learn from the story of Samson and Delilah

Big idea: sometimes life will look like love but love that doesn't protect your purpose will eventually steal it.

We've been told she led him astray. But before you judge her, we must establish the character of Samson.

• In Judges chapter 13-14, Samson fell in love with another Philistine woman.
• Sometimes the no you can overcome isn't necessarily a sign that God is on your side.
• Samson's parents cared about what the gift was carried by. However, Samson only knows how to relate to people based on talent.
• There will come a time you need to discern who is interested in what you can do and those who love you.
• Conflict is a part of any healthy relationship.
• Just because you're angry doesn't mean you have God's green light to act on it.
• Self-control is still a fruit of the spirit.
• It looks like love when you hear everything you want to hear, but the people who love you will confront you.
• These are people who will love you even when it's inconvenient.
• God is the God of those who persevere.
• Sometimes in your friend circle people may not pull their weight but instead of throwing them away get curious.
• Some relationships may be 70:30.
• Samson didn't look like the guy every girl wanted. Instead of looks, Delilah should have asked God is this who he wants her partnered with.
• Every person has an assignment.
• Do not confuse similarity with the same thing as calling.
• You need to be prayerful about who you conjoin with.
• Two people with all the potential end up tearing each other apart.
• Don't let anyone tell you that if the relationship comes with conflict you need to leave.
