Big Idea: God reduces the crowd, so fear doesn't get promoted to leadership.

How to be disciplined as a leader.

As believers we have to adapt when adversity strikes.

  • We will find ourselves engaging in battles that aren't of our choosing but ones we can't avoid.
  • Not everyone has the language that therapy provides. Pain cannot be eradicated until recognized.
  • Many men run out of words and choose to bury themselves in the things that keep them safe.
  • In the text we meet Gideon. Who is going to engage in the fight of his life. He was in conversation with God that is counterintuitive.
  • You need to pray and stay still.
  • Pray comes when you have the boldness to act on what God told you in the secret place.
  • A lot of times the tools we use are born out of fear and not faith.
  • There are many people who try to fit in when we are designed to stand out.
  • Gideon's family was considered one of the least. He's a brother who God found hiding.
  • Gideon is facing a battle where it looks like there's no one to call, so he calls who convenient. Yet none of them are what God needs him to do.
  • God does not rebuke Gideon's fear. God tells him to "send them home."
  • There are some things you need to get rid of.
  • Let go of the things or people that are holding you back.
  • Let things go that no longer serve you.
  • As a leader confront what makes you afraid.
  • Nothing makes you pray like scarcity.

Leadership is not about who survives pressure, but who doesn't let fear make the decision.
