Where to find food help in Osceola County

If groceries are the thing that does not fit in the budget this month, there is help in Osceola County, and needing it is far more common than the silence around it suggests.

This page exists because it is one of the most searched things on this church's website, and because the hardest part of asking for food help is usually working out where to start. What follows is who serves this county, with links to each organisation's own page so the details are current rather than whatever was true when this was written.

Start with 211

Dialling 211 connects to Heart of Florida United Way, which covers Osceola, Orange and Seminole counties around the clock. They hold the fullest picture of what is open, what has stock and what a household qualifies for, and they cover rent, utilities and prescriptions as well as food. For most people this is the fastest single call to make.

Osceola Council on Aging

The Council on Aging runs a food pantry in Kissimmee that is open to Osceola County residents who meet the income guidelines, one registration per household, once a month. Despite the name it serves far more than older residents, and it also runs energy bill assistance, water bill help and housing stability programmes. Registration is done through their own page.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida

Second Harvest supplies most of the pantries in the region rather than distributing directly to households, so the useful thing is their Osceola directory, which lists partner sites by area with what each one offers. If the nearest pantry has closed or moved, this is where to find the one that replaced it.

Searching by your own address

For a map-based search, findhelp lists food programmes near a postcode alongside housing, health and financial assistance, and it is free to use without an account.

Help across Florida

Hope Florida is a state programme that assigns a navigator to work through what a household needs, including food, and it connects people to non-profits and faith communities as well as state services. It runs a statewide line reachable on 833-GET-HOPE.

The pantry at Solid Rock

Solid Rock runs a Food Pantry Ministry as one of its seventeen ministry teams, alongside community outreach. It is one of the church's longest-running commitments in the neighbourhood, and the connect page is the way to ask about it or to offer to help with it.

Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Romans 12:13

Nobody at any of the places above needs an explanation of how a household ended up needing them. Food pantries exist for months like this one, and using one is what they are for.
